MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court should be more careful in rendering its verdicts so that there would be no need to recall decisions as in the case of the Philippine Airlines flight stewards, President Benigno Aquino III’s spokesman said Tuesday.
The high court recalled a ruling favoring the Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines after Philippine Airlines lawyer Estelito Mendoza questioned the decision rendered by the Supreme Court’s Second Division.
“I think once burned twice shy. The Supreme Court must be sure not to make the same mistake again if ever this time the technicality was overlooked,” presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said at a news briefing in Malacañang.
Lacierda said that the recall of the ruling ordering the reinstatement of Fasap members “was something out of the ordinary.”
“That’s the first time I heard of [that] reason for holding back the decision,” Lacierda said.
