ILOILO CITY, Philippines—Fire damaged a power generating set and the one-room structure that housed it at a hotel on Boracay Island Thursday afternoon.
No one was injured and no other structures were damaged in the 15-minute fire that hit the Microtel Hotel in Barangay (village) Balabag around 5:20 p.m., Boracay fire marshall Senior Inspector Rodolfo Cueto said in a telephone interview Friday.
Cueto said the fire had been put out by the hotel employees when firefighters arrived at the scene.
He said the Bureau of Fire Protection had yet to determine the cause of the fire that burned the 390-kva generating set and the 3×2-meter generator structure inside the hotel compound.
