CEBU CITY, Philippines – An explosion damaged a pump boat Friday morning off Punta Engano, LapuLapu City, police said.
Senior Police Officer 1 Michael Limalima, desk officer of the police precinct stationed in Barangay (village) Mactan, which has jurisdiction over Punta Engaño, said fishermen reported the incident at past 7 a.m.
The damaged pump boat was found at some distance from shore with nobody on board. It was towed to shore by other fishermen.
Limalima said he sent policemen to the area to investigate the blast and determine if it was from a homemade explosive used in illegal fishing.
Limalima said the police were also checking if there were casualties.
