Typhoon “In-fa” gained speed on Saturday and is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility Sunday evening, the weather bureau said yesterday.
The typhoon, to be renamed “Marilyn” when it enters the PAR, was last spotted 2,510 kilometers east of Mindanao at 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
“If it moves closer than expected, it may bring light rains over the eastern section of Luzon and enhance the amihan (northeast monsoon),” Loiz said.
Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone is affecting Mindanao, bringing light to moderate rains to Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao. Cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
