ON NOV. 13, 1936, the precursor of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was created by virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 181. The agency originally called Division of Investigation was reorganized into the Bureau of Investigation by virtue of Republic Act 157 in June 1947. It was renamed the NBI by virtue of Executive Order 94 issued on Oct. 4, 1947. The NBI main office is on Taft Avenue in Ermita, Manila. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
