14 senators approve Santiago resolution on treaties
(UPDATE) Fourteen senators approved on third reading on Tuesday a resolution expressing the strong sense of the Senate that any treaty, such as Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca), ratified by the President should be concurred in by the chamber otherwise it becomes “invalid and ineffective.”
Only Senator Antonio Trillanes IV voted against Senate Resolution No. 1414 while Senate President Franklin Drilon and Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile abstained.
The resolution was put to a vote after it was presented on the floor by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
