KIDAPAWAN CITY—A magnitude 4.7-quake was recorded Friday midnight, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Saturday.
Hermes Daquipa, Phivolcs sub-office chief here, said that the 1:33 a.m. tremor was traced 16 kilometers northwest of Davao City at a depth of 14 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity IV here and in Davao City; Intensity III in the town of Makilala, North Cotabato; and Intensity II in the towns of Kabacan, Magpet and Arakan, all in North Cotabato.
The tremor, he said, was also felt at Intensity I in General Santos City.
Daquipa told the Inquirer that the quake was tectonic in origin and Phivolcs was not expecting any aftershocks.
