Proponents of income tax cuts are getting desperate as they have appealed to “AlDub Nation” to support their online petition to convince President Aquino that these reforms are good for the workers and economy.
Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares has appealed to millions of fans of social media superstars Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, also known as “Yaya Dub” in the noontime TV show “Eat Bulaga,” to sign up on their online petition to bring down income tax rates at Change.org which has reached less than a quarter of its target petitioners of 7,500.
“We need the help of AlDub nation because they will also be affected by the income tax reforms,” said Colmenares in a briefing.
Tax Management Association of the Philippines president Terrence Conrad H. Bello said that President Aquino’s refusal to back the income tax cuts due to the projected loss of P30 billion in revenue has left proponent with very few options such as on-line petitions and reaching a compromise.
