MANILA, Philippines — The Department of National Defense will be buying P449 million worth of ammunition, magazine assemblies and explosives for the Philippine Army.
In particular, the agency is purchasing 40 mm and 5.56 mm caliber ammunition, as well as magazine assemblies for M16 rifles, which also use 5.56 mm caliber ammunition.
In a bid invitation posted over the weekend, the DND said it would allocate P449,398,421 for the contract for ammunition, explosives and magazine assembly.
Interested bidders, both foreign and local, should have completed a contract similar to the project in the last 10 years.
The contract will involve the purchase of 32,260 rounds of 40 mm caliber ammunition worth P 70,004,200; 11,354,405 rounds of 5.56 mm Ball SS109 or M855 ammunition worth P 320,194,221; and 118,400 rounds of M16 rifle magazine assembly worth P 59,200,000.
The funding will come from the 2015 allocation of the Philippine Army.
Interested bidders may purchase documents for P50,000 at the DND Bids and Awards Committee Secretariat. The pre-bid conference has been scheduled for November 4 at 8 a.m., DND BAC conference room in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
All bids must be submitted to the DND BAC Secretariat before November 19 at 10 a.m., as the bids will be opened on that day.
The winning bidder must be able to deliver the supplies within 180 calendar days. SFM
