Chinese couple in Cebu shooting on the way to Mactan airport
CEBU CITY — A convoy of at least six vehicles is on its way to the Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City Friday carrying the Chinese couple who have been implicated in the shooting of three Chinese diplomats last Wednesday. Two of the diplomats were killed, while the third one was wounded.
Chief Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas, police director for Central Visayas, confirmed to Inquirer that Consul Gou Jing and her husband Li Qing Liang left Camp Sergio Osmena in Cebu City at 6:30 p.m. and were on their way to MCIA.
He said the couple, who were escorted by Banas, several policemen and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy would be brought to Chinese Embassy to Manila Friday night.
The police official, however, declined to say the exact time of the departure to Manila and if the couple were taking private or commercial plane for security reasons.
