Kidnapped mining firm finance officer freed in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY—A kidnapped finance officer of a mining company in Tawi-Tawi was freed in Sulu on Tuesday night.

Philippine Navy Commander Roy Vincent Trinidad, chief of staff of Naval Forces Western Mindanao, identified the victim as Priscillano Garcia.
Garcia was found at the pier in Jolo town at 8:40 p.m. He was then brought to a hospital for a medical checkup.

“It was reported that the continued military operation forced his captors to release him,” Trinidad said.

Garcia is the finance officer of a mining company operating in Tawi-Tawi. He was taken by armed men from the Beachside Inn Hotel and Restaurant in Barangay (village) Sowang Kagang in Bongao town last May 3. RAM
