A BARANGAY security officer was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman while on patrol in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, early Saturday.
Roberto Fernandez died from multiple gunshot wounds in the body after the attack on Congressional Street around 2 a.m., said PO3 Marlon dela Vega, the case investigator from the Quezon City Police District. Dela Vega said a resident in the area saw a bleeding Fernandez lying on the pavement.
Fernandez’ colleagues brought the 37-year-old victim to East Avenue Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. Police recovered five .45-caliber bullet casings at the scene. Avoid QC road as work on Skyway 3 expands
MOTORISTS are advised to avoid the stretch of A. Bonifacio in Quezon City during peak traffic hours and use the alternative routes posted on signboards around the Skyway Stage 3 worksite, as contractor Engineering Equipment, Inc. (EEI) is expanding its operations between 7th Avenue and Balintawak.
The Skyway Stage 3 project is a 14.8-kilometer elevated expressway that will connect South Luzon Expressway with North Luzon Expressway from Buendia in Makati City to Balintawak in Quezon City.
The project aims to decongest traffic on Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares like Edsa, C5 and Central Manila. The EEI work site currently occupies the road median and intends to use the inner travel lane on both sides of the road.
Citra Central Expressway Corp. (CCEC), the proponent of the Skyway Project, expects slower traffic flow along A. Bonifacio where the existing three standard lanes have to be narrowed or tapered during the Skyway construction.
To ensure the safety of the motorists and the public in general, CCEC and EEI are closely coordinating with the traffic and safety authorities of Quezon City and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA). Traffic signs and safety devices have been installed and an adequate number of traffic marshals have been deployed around the construction area.
