Woman dead as house wall falls in Zambales

SUBIC, Zambales–A 62-year-old woman here died when a concrete wall in their house collapsed and hit her on Sunday morning, an official of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council (PDRRMC) said.

In a text message, Graciela Macabare, Zambales PDRRMC head, said Benita Famanilay, a resident of Barangay (village) Asinan Proper in this town, was hit in the head by a portion of the collapsing wall while she was sleeping at 3 a.m.

Macabare said strong wind whipped up by Typhoon “Lando” hit the family’s house, which is under construction.

The victim’s husband, Gregorio Famanilay, 65, was also hit by the wall and suffered minor injuries, Macabare said.

Their granddaughter, Gail Famanilay, 6, who was with them during the accident, was unhurt.  Allan Macatuno, Inquirer Central Luzon
