Typhoons, and not death threats, can stop the “Dragon Lady of Asia.”

The office of presidential hopeful Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago announced Sunday evening the postponement of the senator’s “meet and greet” with supporters slated on Monday at the Bahay ng Alumni in University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman.

Her office said that the postponement of the event was “in solidarity with Filipinos affected by super typhoon Lando.”

The senator’s office will announce a new schedule for the event soon.

In a post on her Facebook page, Santiago said that her “thoughts and prayers go to all Filipinos affected by typhoon Lando.”

“I urge those still on the storm’s path to remain alert and safe,” she said.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 is raised in Metro Manila.

Last Friday, Santiago filed her certificate of candidacy for president, her third try for the position.

She said that she will be running under the People’s Reform Party and with Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as her running mate.
