Signal No. 1 was raised in Metro Manila as Typhoon Lando kept its strength as it neared Isabela and Aurora provinces on Friday afternoon.
Public storm warning Signal No. 2 was raised in Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija and Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Cagayan, Abra, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Laguna, rest of Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

Lando is expected to make landfall on Sunday morning over the Isabela-Aurora area. It packed maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 160 kph.
It continued to move west at 15 kph.
Aldczar Aurelio of Pagasa said in a televised press briefing that Lando might stay on land for two days.

It will traverse Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province, Abra and Ilocos Norte before it heads towards Taiwan.
“Moderate to occasionally intense rains are expected over Northern and Central Luzon until Monday,” he said.
Aurelio also warned possible storm surges on the eastern coast of Isabela, Aurora, Quezon and Camarines provinces.
