FLORENTINO Torres, the first Filipino to be appointed attorney-general, was born on Oct. 16, 1844, in Sta. Cruz, Manila. A prosecuting attorney, prosecutor and judge, he served as a justice in the Supreme Court from 1901 to 1920. Torres died on April 29, 1927. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
