Tropical storm ‘Lando’ enters PAR

Tropical Storm with international name “Koppu” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In a weather bulletin, Pagasa said that the tropical storm has now been given its local name “Lando.”

The state weather bureau said that Lando is located 1,440 kilometers east of Luzon.

In an earlier advisory, Pagasa said that the tropical storm has maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph.

By Thursday morning, Lando is expected to be at 990 km east of Luzon and on Friday morning, it is expected to be at 560 km east northeast of Baler, Aurora.

It is forecast to move at 22 kph.

The state weather bureau will issue an update regarding Lando at 5 p.m.
