Jailed murder suspect Cagas may run for Davao Sur governor

MALITA, Davao del Sur, Philippines – Except for former governor Douglas Cagas, members of his family had filed their certificates of candidacy for Congress and local posts on Monday.

First district Rep. Mercedes Cagas, the former governor’s wife, filed her COC for reelection, and was seen holding a blank COC for the gubernatorial race.

The former governor, who is in jail while facing charges for the 2010 murder of journalist Nestor Bedolido, earlier said he would run for governor in Davao del Sur.

Representative Cagas was accompanied by her husband’s nephew, John Tracy Cagas, who filed his COC for vice governor. SFM
