UP ‘cum laude’ eyes Palace run; housewife wants to be VP

A 37-year-old woman who claims that she was an honor graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman wants to be the third female president of the country.

Clad in a purple shirt and maong pants, Sel Hope Kang asked supporters to back her candidacy which she referred to as an opportunity “which only knocks once.”

She almost teared up when she explained why she wants to become president.

“Hinihingi ko po ang inyong suporta. Alam ko po na bawat isa sa atin ay nangangailangan ng mas marami pa sa kung ano ang meron sila,” Kang said.

(I am asking for your support. I know that all of us need more than what we already have.)

She also said that she is just a simple Filipino.

When asked by the media on her advantage against other candidates, she said “I am not perfect but I am trying.”

Kang said that she graduated from UP Diliman with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Home Economics.

On the other hand, Myrna Mamon, a housewife, also filed a COC for vice president, the second one after United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) VP bet Senator Gringo Honasan.

Mamon briefly addressed the media where she vowed to do the “right functions of the government.”  IDL
