Charcoal maker killed, 2 hurt by lightning in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A  young man was killed while two others were injured during a lightning strike in Barangay Upper Bunguiao here Thursday.

Nestor Atilano, village chief of Bunguiao, said Reynante Francisco, a 23-year-old charcoal maker died when the lightning hit him on the chest.

Atilano said Francisco and two others took shelter under a mango tree about noontime as it was raining when the lightning struck.

He did not name the other victims, who survived the freak accident.
