LP resets announcement of senatorial lineup on Monday

/ 08:10 PM October 08, 2015

The Liberal Party has postponed anew the announcement of its senatorial candidates for the 2016 elections to October 12, Monday next week.

It was originally scheduled on Friday at the Balay Headquarters of LP in Quezon City.

What prompted the LP to move its announcement date was the decision of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino to withdraw from consideration in the administration coalition slate.

In a statement on Thursday, the LP also said the postponement was also to allow Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista to reflect on his decision to join the senatorial race.

“The decision of prospective candidate MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino to withdraw from consideration in the Daang Matuwid Coalition slate, and to enable Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista additional time for reflection and to consult with his family, required the postponement of the scheduled presentation of the senatorial slate of the Daang Matuwid Coalition,” it said.

“We believe this additional time for discernment is in the best interest of the parties and candidates concerned. The presentation of the official senatorial slate of the Daang Matuwid Coalition will therefore be on Monday, October 12,” it added.
