Grace Poe draws bigwigs of CamSur politics

NAGA CITY, Philippines — Except for the old guards of the political clans in Camarines Sur, presidential aspirant Grace Poe drew the support of political bigwigs in this province when she visited this city Tuesday.

Poe earned the support of former Camarines Sur governor Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte and his son, incumbent Gov. Miguel Luis “Migz” Villafuerte, and first district Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr., implying a political network in the two-city, 35-town province.

Poe attended two separate occasions in the morning, the first one, a Nationalist People’s Coalition’s gathering organized by Andaya with more than a hundred delegates from the first and second districts of Camarines Sur.

From the NPC convention, she proceeded to address some 12,000 public school teachers in a convention commemorating Teachers’ Day which the Villafuertes presided over during the opening ceremonies.

Although LRay and Andaya are rivals in politics with the latter fielding former mayor of Pasacao town Asuncion Villamante Arseño, for the congressional seat in the second district, the two political bigwigs in the province both adopted Poe as their presidential candidate.
