No gov’t work in NCR on Nov. 17, 20 due to Apec meet
Malacañang has declared the suspension of work in all government offices, including government owned and controlled corporations in the National Capital Region (NCR) on November 17, Tuesday, and November 20, Friday, due to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit, which will be held in the country.
The suspension of work in government offices was in accordance to Memorandum Circular No. 84 issued by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. released by the Palace on Monday.
However, not all government offices are covered as agencies which are “directly involved in basic services, such as, security and safety, health and emergency preparedness, and the conduct of various Apec meetings and related activities” shall continue their operations.
Meanwhile, the suspension of work in affected local government units and the private sector will be voluntary.
Malacañang has earlier declared November 18 and 19 as non-working holidays. The Commission on Higher Education has also declared school holidays in NCR on November 17 and 20.
The Apec Summit will bring 21 world leaders in the country for the annual event.
