‘Kabayan’ gains strength as it moves away from PH

Storm signals were lifted on Friday afternoon as Tropical Storm “Kabayan” continued to move away from the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said.

The storm gained more strength as it moved toward the West Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its bulletin.

Kabayan packed maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.

The storm moved west northwest at 20 kph.

Occasional rains will be experienced over the provinces of Bataan, Zambales, and Pangasinan, Pagasa said.

Moderate to heavy rains are forecast within the 300 kilometer radius of Kabayan.

The storm was tracked 205 kilometers northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by midnight Saturday. Frances Mangosing/RC
