A Malacanang official expressed dismay over the hiring of sexy dancers for a birthday celebration of a Laguna lawmaker.
The celebration was held after the oath taking of local officials in Laguna, led by LP standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.
“Women are not objects to be given away as gifts during celebrations,” Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a text message to media.

“The President has always stood firm against the exploitation of women and will not condone such displays of disrespect,” she said.
The group of dancers called “Playgirls,” reportedly a gift to Laguna congressman Benjie Agarao, wore skimpy clothing and performed suggestive dance moves after Roxas and other LP officials left.
The emcee claimed that the group were hired by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino who attended the oath-taking event, but Tolentino denied this.
