LEGAZPI CITY – Albay Gov. Joey Salceda suspended classes in all levels in the province today, Oct. 1, as the province is expected to experience light to moderate rains throughout the day due to a low pressure area (LPA) affecting Bicol and several other regions in Luzon and the Visayas.

The governor, in his official Facebook page, said he decided to suspend classes in consultation with the Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) “for public safety, public welfare and public health.”

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in it 5 a.m. bulletin, said the LPA was estimated to be 245 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, as of 4 a.m.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Bicol (Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate), Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Eastern Visayas (Samar and Leyte provinces and Biliran), according to Pagasa.
