LP agrees to let Roxas pick VP, senatorial slate

House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. on Wednesday said the Liberal Party has given presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas II the power to choose his running mate and the ruling party’s senatorial slate.

“Only the presidential candidate Mar Roxas was nominated, but there were resolutions empowering him to choose the vice presidential candidate, as well as the 12 senatorial candidates,” Belmonte said after the LP convention held in Cubao.

Roxas has already asked Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo to be LP’s candidate for vice president.

While Robredo has yet to be announced as LP’s vice presidential candidate, Belmonte said she is only waiting for her family’s support.

The Speaker and other LP leaders also confirmed that the party now has more than 12 people to choose from for its senate slate. JE
