Man slaughtering cow killed in freak accident

A man was killed when a cow that was being slaughtered during a sacrificial ceremony suddenly bucked and sent the parang (large knife) flying and slashing him.

China Press reported that Suharto Dimjati, 48, suffered a deep slash wound to his left forearm in Yong Peng, Johor, last Thursday morning.

He was said to be in charge of securing the head of the cow during the slaughtering.

Suharto was rushed to a clinic for treatment.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, the report stated.

However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Results from a post-mortem showed that he died due to the loss of blood from the wound.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst. Comm. Din Ahmad said the police had classified the case as sudden death.
