Did you know: Marcos death anniversary

/ 07:16 AM September 28, 2015

Today, Sept. 28, is the 26th death anniversary of former President Ferdinand Marcos. Born on Sept. 11, 1917, he served as the country’s President for 20 years from 1965 to 1986. After imposing martial law in 1972, he was ousted and exiled to Hawaii in 1986. He died in 1989 at the age of 72. In 1993, then President Fidel V. Ramos allowed Marcos’ body to be brought home but did not allow his burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. His remains were preserved and kept by his family in a crypt in his hometown of Batac, Ilocos Norte, waiting for his wish to be granted: to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
