‘Drug lord aided Reyes brods’

But phone calls to PH gave away Thai hideout

Using the triangulation method, the task force said, the Interpol technical team was able to trace the exact location of the phone that the Reyeses were using to call their relatives and friends in the Philippines while they were hiding on Phuket.

“The phone number location was fixed in one place and the phone activities were unusual from time to time. It appears that the [users turn on] the phone only to check for incoming message and then turn the phone off again after it was attended or answered,” the task force said.

The task force said most of the calls from Phuket were made to users in Barangay II and Barangay VI, Poblacion in Coron and Barangay Guyong in Santa Maria, Bulacan province.

The Reyeses also frequently called a phone number of a user located in the upscale Alabang Golf and Country Club in Muntinlupa City.

“After months of stakeout and surveillance operations the [Thai police and the] Interpol were able to pinpoint [the rented house of the Reyeses,” the task force said.

The Thai police swooped down on the lair of the Reyeses in December 2014, but the brothers were able to evade arrest.
