The camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday welcomed the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) on presidential aspirants.

“The survey results will inspire the Vice President and his core supporters to work harder and not to be overconfident,” Binay’s spokesperson for political affairs, Rico Quicho, said in a statement.

The survey, conducted September 2 to 5 among 1,200 respondents, showed that Binay, along with Senator Grace Poe and former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, were leading among presidential hopefuls.

Quicho cited the BusinessWorld report saying there was a “statistical tie” among the three contenders, with Poe receiving 26 percent of the respondents’ votes, Binay 24 percent and Roxas, 20 percent.

“Vice President Jejomar C. Binay is grateful to the people who continue to support and trust him,” Quicho said.

“The elections will be a battle for every single vote and the Vice President will continue to personally meet with the people around the country,” he added.

Binay used to top election surveys. However, Poe later overtook his lead as reports claimed that she was serious in running.

On the other hand, Roxas previously suffered low ratings in surveys before being endorsed by President Benigno Aquino III. In the survey released by SWS earlier this week, he received a higher preference rating than Binay. Kristine Angeli Sabillo/IDL
