DAGUPAN CITY – A public school supervisor was shot dead Wednesday in Bayambang town in Pangasinan province by motorcycle riding gunmen, police said.
Henry dela Cruz, a district supervisor of the Department of Education, was driving (not walking as earlier reported) along Barangay (village) Tambac in Bayambang on the way to his office in the town when he was attacked at about 9 a.m., said Superintendent Gregorio Galsim, Bayambang police chief.
Galsim said dela Cruz was shot at the back just below his left shoulder. The suspects drove away after the gun attack.
Galsim said investigators were still trying to establish the motive behind the shooting.
This was the second shooting incident in the town involving prominent local personalities in the last six days.
On Sept. 17, former Bayambang mayor Leocadio de Vera was wounded when a lone gunman shot him in front of his house.
