Newly appointed Interior Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento was recommended on Tuesday for confirmation by a panel of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).
The recommendation by the CA committee on interior and local government will then be transmitted to the CA plenary for either approval or rejection.
Sarmiento, secretary-general on-leave of the Liberal Party, took the place of former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, who resigned from the post after declaring his presidential bid in 2016. Maila Ager/IDL
