Netizens cheer, jeer Grace Poe’s presidential bid

SENATOR Grace Poe’s formal declaration of her presidential run drew mixed reactions from netizens, who expressed both support and disappointment over her decision to seek the highest political post in the country in the 2016 elections.

Some Twitter users praised Poe’s speech at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, saying that they hope the senator would fulfill the platform of government she presented if she would be elected.

Galing ng strategy niya,” Twitter user @kissmarky said.

“Grace Poe talked about a lot of projects and platforms. I won’t mind at all if she wins,” Markees Malamug (@markISSABLE_) tweeted.

Others, meanwhile, said Poe’s decision to join the presidential derby was premature, noting that she should have run for vice president instead.

Marami pa siyang kailangang matutunan,” said Jason Ong (@TikoyCute).

“I really think Sen. Grace Poe is not ready to be our president. One thing I don’t like is she’s using her father to win votes,” Alexa Macanan said.

Poe topped the senatorial race in 2013. Prior to being elected in the Senate, she was the former chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.

There were also those who said that Poe was the “lesser evil” compared to other presidential bets.

“Always choose the lesser evil. Grace Poe for president!” @carmelagtok tweeted.

Sure ‘yan,” said Rojen De Mesa Dayao (@DMDRojeeeeen).

“I only see Grace Poe as the lesser evil. And, I am so very very tired of always having to pick the lesser evil,” June Santos (@june_santos20) said. YG
