ON the day Senator Grace Poe announced her bid for presidency, she sent the ruling Liberal Party’s standard-bearer Mar Roxas a text message.
This was revealed by Roxas in a statement to the media on Wednesday night. He, however, did not disclose in full what Poe had told him.
“This afternoon I received a text message from Senator Grace Poe. She thanked me for my patience and understanding in considering her as my running mate,” said Roxas.
“I thanked her and wished her good luck.”
When he was finally anointed by President Aquino as the administration’s standard-bearer in 2016, Roxas and the Liberal Party had since been courting Poe to run with him in the national elections as his vice president.
After months of keeping mum on her possible candidacy in 2016, Poe, in a gathering with her supporters at the University of the Philippines’ Bahay ng Alumni, declared she will run as president in the elections.
