VETERAN actress Susan Roces said she was “lost for words” after her adopted daughter, Senator Grace Poe, formally declared on Wednesday that she is running for president in 2016.

“I’m lost for words,” Roces told INQUIRER.net shortly after Poe’s announcement of her presidential bid at the Bahay ng Alumni at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City.

When asked if  she was relieved that Poe finally announced her candidacy, the veteran actress answered yes.

Roces was also present when her late husband, actor Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ), declared her presidential bid in 2004. But FPJ lost to former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Asked how she would compare Grace Poe’s Wednesday event to FPJ’s acceptance of his nomination in December 2003 as the opposition’s presidential bet in 2004, Roces said: “I can’t compare. Thank you for your presence.”
