Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito recognized on Tuesday that his half-brother, detained Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada was right after all when the latter advised him not trust certain people in politics.

Ejercito and Estrada, both sons of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada from different women, have been at odds for years but this perceived rift has reportedly deepened further when Ejercito signed a Senate committee report recommending plunder charges against Estrada, and other personalities allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam.

Estrada, along with co-accused, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., has been detained at Camp Crame in Quezon City over the pork barrel scam.

Asked in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel if his relationship with Estrada has not improved yet considering the latter’s condition, Ejercito said: “Well, I guess it will in time.”

“Because I think the bulk of our intramural, our conflict worsened because of local politics and because of what’s happening in San Juan now, I think we both realized, I realized that he was right after all that I should not trust these people,” Ejercito added.

He was apparently referring to Zamoras in San Juan, specifically the camp of San Juan City Vice Mayor Francis Zamora, who is reportedly set to run against the senator’s mother and incumbent city mayor Guia Gomez in 2016. Gomez and Zamora ran together in 2013.

“I’m hoping that my mother still makes it. But what I appreciate with Senator Jinggoy he has already (given) his hundred support for Mayor Guia’s re-election,” Ejercito said. Maila Ager/IDL
