Migrants arrive during heavy rain at the Hungarian-Austrian border in Nickelsdorf, Austria, Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, where they arrived in buses provided by Hungary’s government from Budapest as Austria in the early-morning hours said it and Germany would let them in. AP

BUDAPEST, Hungary — A fleet of Hungarian buses has delivered more than 1,000 migrants to the border of Austria, where charity workers have offered the surprised newcomers beds, hot tea and a warm welcome.

Saturday’s pre-dawn move eases immediate pressure on Hungary, which has struggled to manage the flow of thousands of migrants arriving daily from non-EU member Serbia. Officials warn that the human tide south of Hungary is still rising.

Hungary relented in its demand for the travelers to report to government-run asylum centers when challenged by migrants, thousands of whom marched west Friday along Hungary’s major motorway. Hundreds of others broke through police lines at a rural train station where police were trying to take them to a refugee camp.
