Drilon: LP should abandon pursuit of Grace Poe

The Liberal Party (LP) should stop wooing Senator Grace Poe to be the running mate of its standard bearer Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and look for other potential partners for him, according to Senate President Franklin Drilon, the party’s vice chair.

Drilon believes Poe will be Roxas’ rival.

“In my view, Grace Poe is already a candidate for president. So, you know, the writing is on the wall. She will run,” Drilon told reporters.

He said he would ask the LP national executive council to convene as soon as possible to nominate and approve its vice presidential candidate.

He mentioned potential partners for Roxas: Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo, and Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Alan Peter Cayetano. Leila B. Salaverria
