The suspect in the killing of the wife and househelp of a Department of Education (DepEd) official in Sta. Ana, Manila on Thursday will face double murder and carnapping charges, according to the Manila Police District.

A Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report said John Adrian Edquilang was brought to the Manila Prosecutor’s Office on Friday morning as police prepared the filing of charges against the 37-year-old businessman and pilot.

Police said Menguito was hit in the back of the head with a hard object, while Magtulis was struck in the face.

Edquilang was identified by a witness as the killer of Lucita Menguito, 53, wife of Department of Education-National Capital Region assistant director Ponciano Menguito; and Jennifer Magtulis, 18.

Edquilang is the son-in-law of the Menguitos.

The report said he was arrested in his house along Molave Avenue in Merville Park in Parañaque City.

But a DZMM report said that Edquilang denied killing Menguito and Magtulis.

MPD director Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana said they are still determining the motive of Edquilang in killing the victims.

Facing car theft charges, Edquilang allegedly took the car of Menguito.

On Friday morning, police found the vehicle, which bore a BLX 08 plate number, in Paco, Manila.

Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives have arrived in Paco to retrieve the vehicle for investigation.

Edquilang is currently under the custody of the MPD Homicide Section. Julliane Love de Jesus with a report from Ruel Perez/IDL
