Senate President Franklin Drilon defended on Thursday a survey commissioned by the Liberal Party (LP) that showed the party’s bet, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, winning against Vice President Jejomar Binay in a one-on-one fight if the election was done “today.”

“Sinabi naman na kami ang nag-comission. Pero hindi ibig sabihin na ang partido namin ang nagcommission ay lolokohin na namin,” Drilon said over dzRH when told that there were criticisms that the survey was “self-serving” and not convincing.

In the survey conducted among 1, 2000 respondents nationwide, Roxas reportedly got 53 percent as against Binay’s 37 percent.

Roxas and Binay were the only ones who have so far declared their presidential bid next year.

Drilon said there were several names being considered to become Roxas’ running mate but he did not name names.

CB
