Jail official robbed of P682K worth of valuables inside BJMP

A high-ranking jail officer was robbed of valuables worth P682,700 inside the premises of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology on Tuesday morning.

According to the blotter report filed at the Manila Police District Tuesday night, BJMP-NCR Jail Chief and Inspector Kaye del Rosario lost a Samsung Note 3 phone worth P18,000; a Tag Heuer watch worth P127,000; a Panerai watch worth P270,000; a gold bracelet worth P200,000; 5 Lacoste Polo shirt worth P20,000; 2 Lacoste slack pants worth P9,000; 3 Hugo Boss T-shirts worth P15,000; 1 Hugo Boss pants worth P13,500; a pair of Aldo Shoes worth P6,500; a pair of Gibson shoes worth P2,000; a desk fan worth P900; a plastic table worth P800; two slippers; a passbook of the BJMP cooperative; and other personal belongings.

Del Rosario, 43, reported that the robbery took place around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday inside the BJMP compound in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

PO3 Byron Orate, in his report, said the victim’s room, which he had not visited for months, was forcibly opened by unidentified people.

Del Rosario found that his valuables were taken when he went back to his room by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to BJMP’s JO3 Jose Rodson Antonio, Del Rosario is a former officer in BJMP-Manila but was relieved last March. He just came back to the BJMP-Manila compound to execute an affidavit as a court witness in a 2014 drug case, Antonio said.

In June 2013, Del Rosario served as deputy of the Manila City Jail warden, Superintendent Lyndon Torres.

Both resigned from their posts to give way to an investigation ordered by then Manila mayor Alfredo Lim after around 100 Sigue Sigue Sputnik gang inmates held a noise barrage calling for Torres’ removal for alleged abuses to inmates, such as the collection of visitation fees from them, bad preparation of food, inadequate nutrition of inmates and torture.
