IF thousands of Iglesia Ni Cristo members stormed the Department of Justice (DOJ) last week to denounce Justice Secretary Leila de Lima for allegedly exercising “selective justice” against the church, this time, one man came forward Tuesday to express his support for the embattled official, saying she is doing a job well done.

Jose Kwe, 67, a construction engineer, stood outside the DOJ gate, displaying a placard urging de Lima not to be afraid.

Kwe said writing his opinions on streamers, tarpaulins is his way of exercising his freedom of expression. He said he was sent to prison during the martial law days because of ventilating his sentiments.

“No one can stop me from airing my views,” he said.

Last week, Iglesia Ni Cristo  (INC) members held a protest rally outside the DOJ accusing de Lima of intervening in the internal affairs of the church.

Their action was triggered by the filing of complaint by an expelled minister Isaias Samson Jr. and his family against Sanggunian members, the highest administrative body of INC.

“That is illegal detention, same as the case filed by Benhur Luy and Jun Lozada. Samson is also a whistleblower. The only difference is it was against a Church,” Kwe said. Tetch Torres-Tupas
