DIMPLE Esmerio

Dimple Esmerio

Being a teenager has not been easy for Dimple Esmerio. She was only 12 years old when she was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer.

Now aged 14, Dimple has taken to wearing a mask whenever she goes out in public as the cancer has eaten away most of her nose, says mom Daisy Esmerio.

Dimple is a Grade 7 student of the Kalumpang National High School in Marikina City. Her father works as a delivery man for a paint company while Daisy is a housewife.

Aside from linear accelerator (Linac) radiation—a radio-surgery treatment in which high-energy X-rays would be used to destroy tumors—Dimple also needs to undergo a biopsy and CT scan to monitor the lymph node that grew above her right eye. She will need around P100,000 for the three procedures.

Those who want to help her may call 0906-7169988. Donations can be deposited in Daisy Esmerio’s BPI account  (# 6476118954).–Santiago R. Alcantara
