From doing her rounds in the market selling vegetables, this woman from Manila is now poised to start her career as a grocery store owner after she took home the P30.1-million jackpot prize of the Mega Lotto 6/45.

The 50-year-old vegetable vendor is the sole winner who correctly picked the winning combination 01-07-14-28-44-45 in the Aug. 19 draw. She bought three tickets to win exactly P30,105,924.

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Vice Chair and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said the winner had faithfully bet on the random numbers over the last two decades.

When she claimed her prize at the PCSO’s head office in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday, the winner told Rojas that she was planning to leave her rented home in Tondo and settle elsewhere. She added that she would use her winnings to open up her own grocery store.

Being the eldest in a brood of four, the bachelorette also told Rojas that she would share her prize with her siblings, as well as use it to finance the education of her nephews and nieces. Rojas said that the winner also wanted to donate a portion of her winnings to the Church.

The Mega Lotto has a minimum guaranteed prize of P9 million. The jackpot prize exceeded P30 million after no lucky player correctly guessed the right combination in its last 10 draws, starting July 29. Jovic Yee
