LOOK: Malacañang declares 2016 holidays
MALACAÑANG has released the list of national holidays for 2016.
Proclamation No. 1105, signed by President Benigno Aquino III last August 20, lists down 10 regular holidays and nine special non-working days.
Based on the proclamation, there will be at least six long weekends.
Observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha will be declared later, in accordance with the Islamic calendar.
Based on last year’s labor advisory, employees who did not work during a regular holiday will receive 100 percent of their salary for that day. They will receive 200 percent of their salary if they work for eight hours.
For special non-working days, on the other hand, a “no work, no pay” principle will be applied, unless a more favorable company policy exists. A worker is entitled to an additional 30 percent of his salary if he reports for work. Kristine Angeli Sabillo
