Yellow rainfall warning raised in Metro Manila, nearby provinces
The state weather bureau on Saturday morning issued a yellow rainfall warning over Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Bulacan.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in its 7 a.m. heavy rainfall warning said flooding in low lying areas of Metro Manila and the said provinces should be expected.
Meanwhile, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Quezon will be affected by light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.
Northern Luzon is being battered by typhoon “Ineng” (international name Goni), which was located 130 kilometers northeast of Calayan, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph as of 6 a.m.
At least five people were killed during landslides and floods on Friday due to the typhoon, despite the eye of the storm not making landfall.
