Coastal villages in Davao del Sur evacuated
DIGOS CITY, Philippines—Residents of coastal villages in Davao del Sur have evacuated following an alert issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council about the possibility of a tsunami hitting some provinces, the police said.
Senior Superintendent Roland dela Rosa, Davao del Sur police chief, said an undetermined number of people fled their homes in the coastal towns for fear of disaster.
