Hunt for Pastor slay ‘brains’ still on despite his court plea

The police will continue looking for businessman Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman III—tagged as the mastermind in the killing of international racer Enzo Pastor—despite his petition to recall the arrest warrant issued against him by a Quezon City court.

Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the pending motion would not affect their ongoing search for De Guzman.

“The manhunt continues unless the judge resolves the motion in his favor,” he added.

Judge Luisito Cortez of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 85 earlier ordered De Guzman’s arrest as he also denied his motion for judicial determination of probable cause.

De Guzman contested the dismissal, saying the court erred in finding probable cause against him based on hearsay evidence.

Marcelo, meanwhile, said that the National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group were also looking for the businessman.

According to Marcelo, they believe that De Guzman was still in the country as there was no record of him leaving the Philippines.
