Without a Supreme Court resolution issued by the end of office hours on Tuesday, the Sandiganbayan has announced it will open on Wednesday (Aug. 19) even if it will be a Quezon City holiday, to give Enrile a chance to post bail in case the Supreme Court transmits a copy of the resolution to the anti-graft court.
Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, also chair of the Sandiganbayan Third Division, assigned select personnel to report to work on Wednesday, the foundation day of Quezon City, to process the bail of the 91-year old senator.
Tang herself will show up at the office Wednesday, since Enrile is required to appear before her as part of the bail process.
Sandiganbayan Third Division Clerk of Court Dennis Pulma said on Tuesday afternoon that they had not received an official copy of the resolution from the Supreme Court. The court needs the copy of the Supreme Court ruling in officially notifying the Philippine National Police to bring Enrile to the Sandiganbayan.
Aside from the P1-million bail for plunder, Enrile also has to post a P450,000 bail for the 15 counts of graft (bail was set at P30,000 per count) filed against him in connection with the pork barrel scam in order to regain his liberty. Dona Z. Pazzibugan, Philippine Daily Inquirer
